After a successful run in Manila as the twenty-fifth season premiere of Ateneo Blue Repertory (blueREP), Real-Life Fairytales will be heading to South Korea from July 2-6, 2017, to compete in the final round of the 11th Daegu International Musical Festival. This will also be the first time that blueREP goes international!

Before we take off, blueREP will be staging a local run of Real-Life Fairytales at the Rizal Mini Theater, from June 24-25, 2017, in order to gain support and traction. The Rizal Mini Theater is located at the Ateneo de Manila University, with a total seating capacity of 200.

What did audiences say?

"Watching Real Life Fairytales, I was so moved I couldn't take a picture. It didn't seem fair or appropriate. Certain memories and feelings are only for the heart and memory. I know I don't take a picture when I know deep down I do not need reminding of a moment. I will remember always, not just the stories or the performances, but the deftness of vision, the confidence of directing, the shaping of form of thought and expression." - Rica Bolipata Santos

"We are not our trauma. Play your life by ear. Lessons like these need to be retold, and I'll be there at the restaging." - Deineol Lopez

"This run may be done, but I don't believe that this is the end. I have high hopes for a rerun in the near future, and I know that Real-Life Fairytales will stay in the hearts of many." - Maia Dapul

"I watched Blue Repertory's 'Real Life Fairytales' yesterday and I must say, it's so amazing I can't believe it's a student based production! It's an all original show -- text, lyrics, music -- everything! Nakakabilib! Super professional. I read the program over and over again, inspected the set and how they made it, checked out the lights, and reviewed every scene in my head on the way home, super affected ako which means it really touched me in so many ways. Thank you blueREP for the wonderful escape. They should definitely tour this or something. The songs should be on Spotify! It's a must watch!" - Ara Fernando

About the organization:

Founded in February 1991, marked by the opening night of the organization's first production, "Pippin", Ateneo Blue Repertory is the premier musical theatre organization of the Ateneo De Manila University. 25 years ago, it began as nothing more than a humble project among a group of friends. Now it celebrates its 25th year in the sphere of professional musical theatre in the Philippines. For the past twenty-five years, blueREP has selected material that is new, fresh and challenging, and the organization is constantly on a search to innovate and make an impact in theater and in the Ateneo. The organization regularly works with theater veterans from Repertory Philippines, Trumpets, Atlantis Productions and other professional theater companies.
