Namamatay ang mga Nagmamahal, a full-length CD album of poems set to music, is a collaborative work of writer Mesándel Virtusio Arguelles and writer-musicians Isha Abubakar, Khriszcen Agres, Bobby Balingit, Marvin Laureta and Keith Bustamante, Lolito Go, Valene Lagunzad, Cucay Pagdilao, Ian Paolo Acosta, Joseph de luna Saguid, Rachi Saguid, Vincenz Serrano and Regine Cabato, Apol Sta. Maria, and Ryan Reyes.

Mesándel Virtusio Arguelles is the author of 17 books of poetry in Filipino including Kurap sa Ilalim (DLSU Publishing House, 2016) and Pesoa (Balangay Books, 2014), both finalist for the National Book Award in 2015 and 2017. His volume of selected poems from 2002 – 2014, Ang Iyong Buhay ay Laging Mabibigo, was published by Ateneo de Naga University Publishing House in 2016. In 2017, Talik (Balangay Books), the first book in his Talik Trilogy, was released. A recipient of multiple national awards including Maningning Miclat Award for Poetry and Don Carlos Palanca Memorial Awards for Literature, Arguelles has also received fellowships from UP National Writers Workshop (2000 and 2012) and Bienvenido N. Santos Creative Writing Center National Workshop on Art and Cultural Criticism (2016). He is co-editor of the online journal hal., works as a book editor and translator, and teaches literature and creative writing at the De La Salle University-Manila where he also pursues doctoral studies. Translations in English of his poems by Kristine Ong Muslim have been published or are forthcoming in a number of international publications such as Circumference: Poetry in Translation, Construction Magazine, The Cossack Review, The Adirondack Review, The Missing Slate, and Asymptote.

Namamatay ang mga Nagmamahal, a full-length CD album of poems set to music, is a collaborative work of writer Mesándel Virtusio Arguelles and writer-musicians Pearlsha Abubakar, Khriszcen Agres, Bobby Balingit, Keith Bustamante, Lolito Go, Valene Lagunzad, Cucay Pagdilao, Jason Rondero, Joseph de luna Saguid, Rachi Saguid, Vincenz Serrano, Apol Sta. Maria, and Ryan Reyes. The poems were selected from the books of poet Mesándel Virtusio Arguelles individually by the musicians involved in the project. This collaborative work aims to explore and inhabit the spaces shared by both music and poetry.
Project backers have four options (Php500, Php1000, Php1500, and Php2000). Each option comes with a set of rewards. The backing process starts with determining the amount you will send us. The Spark Project Team will then send you further details on the mode of payment. Your pledge will be reflected on the website only after the deposit has been made. Kindly give us two to three months to produce the CDs and rewards.
The funds will go directly to the production of the physical CD and digital albums. It will be used to pay for the recording of the songs, honorarium of the artists, and production of rewards.
Backers who live in other countries may send their pledges via PayPal, Dragonpay, and bank deposit.
Digital (mp3) copies of the album will be available. Further details will be announced soon.
The poems selected for the NAMN album are from the different books of writer Mesandel Virtusio Arguelles. PDF copies of the poems are not for sale. For those who are interested to purchase his books, kindly contact ALAB at 09272265745 or alabph.events@gmail.com.
