Project SHieN: Giving support to a holistic training for OFWs
Project SHIeN (Shien支援 means “support” in Japanese) aims to help highly deserving students to be given a FULL scholarship to SHiN’s Intensive Holistic Program.
PROJECT SHIEN: A Scholarship Funding to help soon-to-be OFWs be holistically ready before facing their new life in Japan
OFWs do not have it easy when trying to survive to a new living environment away from family & friends and even adding the challenges of their work. Most state that they felt they were not ready when they started out which led to different kinds of problems (e.g. physical sickness, depression, financial difficulty) which made them forget about the main reason why they even became an OFW.
This is the reason why SHiN Japanese Language and Training Center built an intensive holistic training program that aims to make the trainees be ready physically, aware culturally , equipped mentally, and inspired spiritually before they even start their job in Japan. The 2-month program will enlighten them of what to expect on their new endeavor in Japan and how to deal with it in a right mindset. SHiN Japanese Language and Training Center believes that Filipinos are capable of achieving great things during their stay in Japan when they move forward in their maximum capacity and prepared selves
What are we doing?
Project SHIeN (Shien支援 means “support” in Japanese) aims to help highly deserving students to be given a FULL scholarship to SHiN’s Intensive Holistic Program. The goal is to provide scholarship to two trainees (or more based on the funding accumulated) that has no financial capability and has a strong desire to be in the training program.
The scholarship includes the following:
1. Transportation from their place to our training center in Marikina City
2. Accommodation Fee for the entire duration of the training
3. Uniform
4. Meals for the entire duration of the training
5. Japanese Language lesson materials
How can you help?
Through your financial contributions, selected trainees can get an opportunity to be part of this holistic training program to properly equip them, not only in the Japanese language, but also to make them realize their full potentials even before starting their journey in Japan.
We have a list of suggested support tiers with the amount of Php750, Php1500, Php2500, Php5000, Php7500 but you are free to choose however amount you would like to extend to support the trainees.
How does it work?
Pledges are gathered until the middle of March 2020. Immediately after that, we will start selecting candidates from the list of trainees that is provided to us by our hiring partner in Japan. By the end of March, we will have an initial screening based from their background checks and financial status of all candidates. We will then be conducting personal/phone/Skype interviews of all candidates to test on their desirability to be part of the program and attitude on dealing with such situations.
SHiN will be informing successful applicants of the result around middle of April that will provide them 1-2 months before the official start of the training.
What do we promise?
You are helping us build opportunities for OFWs so we want you to be part of this project every step of the way since. With this, we will make sure to provide you the following:

March 19, 2020
Update: March 19, 2020 The third batch of students of SHiN Japanese Language and Training Center are finally selected after 4 sets of interviews held for different Japanese companies. The tedious selection process: 1. Submission of their CV’s to the partner local manpower agency. If their profiles fit the requirements of the respective employers, they will undergo first stage of face to face interview. 2. Those who passed the initial interview will be provided guidelines and briefing of the manpower agency regarding the expectations on the actual interview with the “kumiai-organization” and the Japanese employers. Other requirements necessary after they pass the interview are also explained so trainees can have ample time to prepare. 3. Only 10percent of the total number of applicants will get the chance to move to the next stage which is the Japanese language and culture training under SHiN. 4. Once the final selection is completed, the selected trainees will undergo medical screening to ensure they are fit to proceed to the succeeding steps. Other preliminary documentations are also being processed in advanced prior to start of the holistic training. At least two weeks before the start of the Japanese language training, online orientation is conducted by SHiN to further explain in details what they should have ready before, during and after the 2-months intensive Japanese language and culture training in Marikina City. Essentially, the Japanese language and culture holistic training is not merely a “training program” but is part of their assessment if trainees are ready and fit to go to Japan as technical trainees.

March 12, 2020
Update: March 12, 2020 This is where the trainees’ journey begins. Aspiring applicants are given orientation prior to actual interview with Japan “kumiai” (organization) representative and Japanese employers represented by top management of the hiring companies. During the orientation, EDI, Japan kumiai and SHiN provide information regarding the company, expectation of the employers, ideal candidates, job description (including salary and others) and the next steps if they are hired. On this stage, all information are being given to be transparent to the candidates and ensure that proceeding with interview also means they are willing to undergo the next stages of their journey to the land of the rising sun. Upon selection, successful candidates will be given post orientation to explain the succeeding process both in documentations and Japanese language and holistic training. The rest will be history.
